With an aesthetic described as ‘Playful but ballsy’, Ellen Porteus is a graphic-designer-turned-freelance-illustrator and gif artist, who brings her unique vision to the world of animated art. Her meticulously patterned vector work boasts eccentric colour palettes – often wrapped up in the coordinated chaos of interwoven animated loops.
Based in Melbourne, Ellen’s work has been in consistent rotation through some of the most high-profile commercial clients both domestically and abroad, including the Sydney Opera House, Bloomberg BusinessWeek, Fast Company, The New York Times, The Gates Foundation, TED, Monocle, and more.
Ellen’s group exhibitions include Golden, Workshop Fitzroy (2016), A Billion Frames Per Second, Lamington Drive (2016), Double Bump, No Vacancy Gallery (2016), Look Hear, The Edwards (2016) as well as The Lock-Up (2015) and finally, Yen Young Female Art Awards, Gaffa Gallery (2015).
