5 September — 28 September 2013

Michael Prior and Lachlan Conn present a collection of all-new work as part of their ongoing collaboration as Chronox.

Finding inspiration in the gentle hum of activity within the Compound Interest itself, Chronox will create an animated landscape of hypnotic automata and awkward machinery.

Expect echoes of folk-art whirligigs, office-space ambience, métamatics, and mini-golf.

Opening Night: Thursday 5 September 6-9pm

Exhibition Continues: 6 – 28 September

Chronox is a large-scale device with which to escape the motion of time, an earnest attempt to build a time machine. The work utilises utopian architecture, heavy sonic repetition and phasing visual synchronicity to distort temporal perception. As such, the work meditates on the shared qualities of nostalgia and utopia, by coaxing an audience outside of chronological flow, out of their own time and place, into a space where time ceases to move forwards.
